Job Purpose

To provide 24/7 analytical service to all Runcorn Site businesses to meet commercial, operational and SHE requirements. This includes the emergency response measurement capability for all incidents in line with regional emergency response agreements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide a 24 hour analytical and technical service to manufacturing assets on Runcorn Site to meet SHE, operational and commercial requirements.
  • Analyze and retrieve samples to meet an agreed analytical schedule set out in SLA’s and quality agreements using procedures described in the quality management system so that SHE, production and commercial needs are met.
  • Provide on or off site analytical monitoring service (Gas Detection Officer) in line with agreed regional response responsibilities, including provision of gas testing in support of safe entry requirements for all businesses.
  • Support wider team activities by providing flexible resource as determined by business (multi) requirements. This includes the use of commitment time.
  • Validate and report analytical results, taking appropriate action to address anomalies to ensure that all business decisions are based on robust data.
  • Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments to the agreed schedule including rectifying problems as they arise. Ensuring all anomalies are reported using the agreed quality management system.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Shift Manager and/or management by analysing unscheduled samples by prescribed methods.
  • Train new laboratory staff and process operators in the use of analytical procedures to improve their basic understanding and capability.

Education & Experience

  • Degree level in chemistry / analytical chemistry / relevant science.
  • 3‑5 years analytical chemistry laboratory experience.
  • Experience in use of chromatography and titrimetric techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
