About Our Opportunity

Working as Mechanical Technician you will be installing, maintaining, repairing and assisting in the development of mechanical equipment to achieve maximum reliability in a safe and cost-effective manner and adhere to identified INEOS standards and practices. This role is to enhance our existing craft team whilst we work through recommissioning KG Train 2 and support the subsequent start up.

MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Title: Mechanical Technician
Hours: 37.5 per week
Location: Grangemouth
Salary: Competitive
Contract type: Fixed Term – 14 months

Key Accountabilities

  • All health and safety standards (& initiatives) are adhered to and site operating procedures are followed at all times (e.g. Control of Work, COSHH, Manual Handling, Risk assessments, LOLER & PUWER etc. including the raising and follow-up of any issues/actions as appropriate).
  • Liaise in job preparation with planner and permit issuing authority to ensure job is ready to start, risks are fully understood.
  • Examine mechanical equipment as directed within safety and operational procedures to ensure any potential faults can be identified in advance of possible failure.
  • Examine faulty equipment as directed in order to accurately ascertain the root cause of the fault and make recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Accurately record all work carried out using a suitable CMMS in order to inform Planner and other Asset personnel of plant status and provide an accurate history of work carried out.
  • Involvement in equipment improvement teams, offering first‑hand technical input and carrying out actions to ensure delivery.

About You

You should:

  • Have a relevant technical qualification (SVQ level 3 / HNC)
  • Have significant experience related to the role
  • Have knowledge of rotating machinery (compressors, pumps, steam turbines)
  • Have knowledge of static equipment (Exchangers, filter assemblies, steam tracing & traps, NRV’s, Safety Valves etc.)
  • Be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Be able to use measuring equipment
  • Be able to work to close tolerances
  • Be able to use air tools, air drill & grinders
  • Have experience pressure testing
  • Have IT skills

You may also:

  • Be forklift trained
  • Have experience with rigging/slinging
