INEOS Energy is the energy division of INEOS. We produce and trade oil, gas, power and liquefied natural gas (LNG). We operate offshore assets across the Danish and UK North Sea, onshore assets in South Texas, and a newly acquired deepwater portfolio in the Gulf of America – alongside low carbon investments, including Project Greensand, our carbon storage project in the Danish North Sea, that will help sustain the business through the energy transition. INEOS Energy Trading is expanding its presence across European Gas and Power markets to drive trading earnings, support INEOS industrial assets and capture value across the LNG chain.

We are looking for an experienced Originator to generate and close deals for INEOS Gas and Power trading books.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Origination & Deal Execution
    • Identify, structure, negotiate, and execute structured gas transactions across European Gas markets such as Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements.
    • Support the development of structured products including: Gas storage (physical & virtual), Swing and flexibility agreements, Cross-border transportation capacity, TSO/SSO-linked products, Structured products fitting INEOS businesses requirement in physical gas and financially settled risk management products across gas, power and carbon.
    • LNG-Gas commercial structures in collaboration with Ineos.
    • Engage with Ineos functions to ensure appropriate deal risk assessment.
    • Lead bilateral negotiations and manage contractual frameworks (e.g. EFETs).
    • Manage existing origination deals to ensure P&L delivery and good risk oversight.
    • Support Ineos entering new European markets by project managing internal and external stakeholders and executing key agreements.
  • Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with: Ineos businesses, Utilities, producers, and trading houses, Industrial clients and LNG counterparties, TSOs, SSOs, and regulatory bodies.
    • Act as a market-facing representative at industry forums and negotiations.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Education/Experience
    • Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or Energy-related discipline.
    • Advanced qualifications (e.g. CQF or equivalent) are a plus.
    • 3-5 years experience in gas deal making and execution within European gas markets, including proven track record working with industrial customers and power producers.
    • Some experience in power origination would be preferable.
    • Strong track record executing structured and asset-backed gas deals.
    • Excellent knowledge of: European gas hubs and infrastructure, Storage, transport, and flexibility products, LNG and cross-commodity linkages.
    • Interest in European power markets would be preferable although not an absolute requirement.
    • Experience launching new products or entering new markets.
    • Exposure to structured financing / asset-linked transactions.
    • Strong network across European gas counterparties.
    • European languages.
  • Technical & Commercial Skills
    • Strong commercial acumen with ability to structure complex deals.
    • Understanding of pricing and valuation of structured contracts.
    • Solid grasp of risk, P&L drivers, and portfolio optimisation.
  • Behavioural skills
    • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
    • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving ability.
    • Entrepreneurial approach with a focus on value creation.
    • Interest in Industrial processes and Petrochemical industry.
    • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
