INEOS Energy Trading trades, moves and stores oil, gas, power and LNG, both from the INEOS Group’s own production and from third parties, and trades financial energy products. It is a rapidly growing, dynamic business within the INEOS Group.

The role will involve:

  • Assisting the Energy Trading business in reviewing the entirety of its compliance and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Enhancing them where necessary in order to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Handling the business’ current compliance programme.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Risk and will work closely with the Trading Director, with other members of the Legal and Compliance team. They will assist the business in upgrading its compliance and regulatory programme, including:

  • Being the initial point of contact for all Compliance & Regulatory issues.
  • Providing support to the Head of Legal & Compliance on communications with regulators.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including MiFID II, EMIR, REMIT, Dodd Frank, CFTC, exchange rules, licences and permitting.
  • Assisting Group Compliance with compliance as a secondary skill set.
  • Leading projects to implement a market surveillance tool and to improve the monitoring of communications media; handling market and communications surveillance for the business.
  • Providing and updating a comprehensive assessment of Compliance & Regulatory risks and mitigants.
  • Ensuring that the business has a suite of appropriate Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Providing Compliance & Regulatory training to all staff, including on market abuse and competition law.
  • Working to ensure uniformly high ethical standards throughout the business.
  • Initial investigation of all compliance and ethical issues, including market abuse. Support to the Head of Legal & Compliance on more detailed investigations.
  • Monitoring and calculating trading positions against exchange and regulatory position limits and thresholds ensuring compliance and supporting timely escalation and remediation.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Education/Experience

  • Experienced compliance and regulatory expert with hands-on experience in the commodity sector.

Skills & Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of the laws and regulations affecting trading, including REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, Market Abuse Regulations, Dodd Frank, CFTC, competition law and sanctions issues.
  • Ability to make complex concepts clear and understandable.
  • Data analytical skills.

Preferred Software Experience

  • Standard office systems (Word, SharePoint, Power Point, Excel).

  • Hands-on, practical approach to Compliance & Regulatory issues.
  • Positive, “can do”, solution-based attitude.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to deal with complex issues in a straightforward way.
