At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas, power and liquefied natural gas (LNG), both physical and financial. This is supported by our investments in low carbon technologies, which will help sustain our business through the energy transition. INEOS Energy Trading trades, moves and stores oil, gas, power and LNG, both from the INEOS Groupâs own production and from third parties, and trades financial energy products. It is a rapidly growing, dynamic business within the INEOS Group.
The role will involve assisting the Energy Trading business in reviewing the entirety of its compliance and regulatory policies and procedures, enhancing them where necessary to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and handling the businessâs current compliance programme.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Act as the initial point of contact for all Compliance & Regulatory issues.
- Provide support to the Head of Legal & Compliance on communications with regulators.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including MiFID II, EMIR, REMIT, DoddâFrank, CFTC, exchange rules, licences and permitting, and, where applicable, ESG issues such as methane emissions regulations.
- Lead projects to implement a market surveillance tool and improve monitoring of communications media; handle market and communications surveillance for the business.
- Provide and update a comprehensive assessment of Compliance & Regulatory risks and mitigants.
- Ensure the business has a suite of appropriate Compliance policies and procedures.
- Provide Compliance & Regulatory training to all staff, including on market abuse and competition law.
- Work to ensure uniformly high ethical standards throughout the business.
- Conduct initial investigations of all compliance and ethical issues, including market abuse; support the Head of Legal & Compliance on more detailed investigations.
Education & Experience
Experienced compliance and regulatory expert with handsâon experience in the commodity sector.
Skills & Knowledge
- Inâdepth knowledge of the laws and regulations affecting trading, including REMIT, EMIR, MiFID II, Market Abuse Regulations, DoddâFrank, CFTC, competition law and sanctions issues.
- Ability to make complex concepts clear and understandable.
Preferred Software Experience
Standard office systems (Word, SharePoint).
- High ethical standards.
- Handsâon, practical approach to Compliance & Regulatory issues.
- Positive, âcanâdoâ, solutionâbased attitude.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to deal with complex issues in a straightâforward way.
