INEOS Energy Trading trades, moves and stores oil, gas, power and LNG, both from the INEOS Group’s own production and from third parties, and trades financial energy products. It is a rapidly growing, dynamic business within the INEOS Group.
The role will involve:
- Being the lead ETRM SME across the trading business (Front, Middle and Back Office) to deliver ETRM solutions that are fit for purpose from a design, configuration, and operation perspective and are aligned with end-to-end business requirements.
- Project management accountability for ETRM-related initiatives, including defining scope, managing priorities, coordinating stakeholders, overseeing delivery timelines, and ensuring successful adoption.
- Delivering practical, scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency, strengthen financial control, and enhance confident system usage across the organisation.
- Training current and new business users and ensuring that documentations are created and updated accordingly. Share knowledge with other team members to upskill where needed and to identify gaps and signal points of failure.
- Collaboration with UK & US trading teams to ensure ETRM consistency in processes and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Operations, Trade Control, Risk, Finance, IT, and external vendors. Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding the full trading life cycle and its key stages, including pre-trade preparation, execution, clearing, settlement, and post-trade activities. The ability to articulate and document the trading life cycle to the wider team.
- Own business-led design and configuration of ETRM solutions across physical and financial trading, ensuring end-to-end trade lifecycle alignment from deal capture through valuation, settlement, and reporting.
- Lead process optimisation initiatives across trading, operations, and finance to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and improve netback, inventory, cost allocation, and close accuracy.
- Act as a trusted delivery lead to Trading, Operations, and Finance, coordinating UAT, issue resolution, prioritisation, and stabilisations across concurrent ETRM initiatives.
- Expand role-based ETRM knowledge that drives confident system adoption and consistent ways of working across US and UK teams.
- Own ETRM change delivery by coordinating business, IT, and vendors to implement upgrades, enhancements, and scalable improvements.
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education/Experience
- Significant experience in energy trading operations, ETRM business analysis or trading systems. Proven track record working across front, middle and back office functions.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of physical and financial commodities trading.
- In-depth knowledge of the end-to-end trade lifecycle. Experience with netback analysis, inventory valuation, and SAP Integration.
- Strong understanding of audit controls and requirements, and financial integrity.
Preferred Software Experience
- Allegro ETRM (essential), ERP, and Reporting Tools, Account/ financial systems.
