About the role

The OIM is the person appointed to be in charge of the safe operation of an offshore normally unattended installation or the onshore facility. The OIM is expected to work within a multi-disciplinary Asset Management team and is responsible for the safe delivery of operations from our producing assets. They are required to provide operational leadership for the asset and personnel, ensuring that all activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with all health and safety regulations, and ensuring the welfare of all personnel. The OIM reports directly to the Operations Manager and directs the site Area Authority, Technicians and Deck Foreman, working within the North Operations Team. The position is primarily an Offshore/Onshore role but periods of office-based work in Aberdeen will be required.

What does the day to day look like?

  • Flights to the installation are day trip only with a summer and winter flying programme. The installation is a normally unattended installation with no accommodation facilities.
  • Control and manage field operations to maximise availability and ensure compliance with maintenance plans. The provision of a safe workplace and protection of the environment being the key drivers for all decision making.
  • Manage emergency and incident response and lead the Emergency Response Team to protect the well-being of personnel and the integrity of the installation at both our on and offshore assets.
  • Report daily to onshore management on performance against specific targets/objectives.
  • Set priorities to achieve safety and business critical goals and ensure these are effectively communicated.
  • Regular liaison with relevant onshore departments ensuring adequate flow and exchange of information.
  • Ensure safe working practices are implemented and that facilities are fit to meet statutory and SHE requirements.
  • Ensure that safety, quality and environmental systems are communicated, understood, monitored and implemented and that they comply fully with Ineos FPS standards, SHE policies & procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Adhere to and be responsible for the promotion of Ineos 20 Principles and 7 Life Saving Rules to the team, with colleagues and external vendors.
  • Make recommendations for changes to procedures, improvements and projects related to the field operations.
  • Ensure that monitoring systems are operating effectively and efficiently.
  • Share and adopt best practices across the company and from cross-industry learning and identify opportunities to enhance consistency and alignment between assets, where practicable.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic business plans, prioritise capital works, and ensure the cost-effective use of materials, goods and equipment.
  • Provide clear direction and objectives for Offshore/Onshore Site personnel and ensure that they are fully aware of their objectives and roles. Motivate and develop personnel to ensure engagement, efficiency and safety-awareness are embedded in the working culture.
  • Represent the Company at meetings with industry forums and government bodies.
  • Effectively manage the team and provide leadership, direction and coaching to Offshore/Onshore personnel to enhance levels of performance and competency.
  • Support recruitment, selection, training and competency programmes for Offshore/Onshore teams, ensuring the effective delivery of all field operations.
  • Safety is the most important factor in working Offshore/Onshore and it is therefore mandatory that all employees participate fully in the Company Competency Programme.
  • Take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise.

  • OPITO approved OIM assessment – offshore only;
  • Current BOSIET/FOET or equivalent – offshore only;
  • PERO – onshore only;
  • MIST;
  • OGUK Medical;
  • Supervisory/Leadership experience.
