About The Daily Mile Foundation
The Daily Mile was created by one headteacher and her school community as a simple solution to a modern global challenge, and it has become a flagship model for increasing levels of physical activity and supporting children’s health within schools across the UK and globally. The Daily Mile model is simple: 15 minutes of children running, wheeling or walking – at their own pace – outdoors with friends. It is led by the teacher and takes place during class time. Evidence shows this simple act profoundly improves children’s physical, social and emotional wellbeing, regardless of a child’s age, ability or personal circumstances. With over 21,000 schools across 97 countries registered to participate in the Daily Mile over a 10 year period, the task of building on these strong foundations is an exciting and challenging one. The charity is UK based with a London headquarters but has a global reach.
