The Instrument Technician position is expected to provide expertise for the troubleshooting and maintenance of instruments, instrumented systems and fire and gas system at all Ineos FPS North sites. The Instrument Technician also takes part in pig recovery operations onshore and offshore. In addition, the role also completes general operational duties, including application of isolations, pigging operations, management of vendors, and emergency response duties.
This position reports to the Offshore or Onshore Installation Manager (OIM), the post holder is responsible for performing operations and preventative, breakdown or shutdown maintenance on all instrumentation/control equipment within the INEOS FPS North Assets, the FPS Landline and Unity offshore installation.
Responsibilities
- Isolating authority control and process, isolations to be performed as per asset requirements.
- Performing Authority for vendor maintenance or project activities as required.
- Detailed job planning for all maintenance and repair of instrument, electrical, analyser and metering related activities, including identification and purchasing of simple materials.
- To perform preventive, corrective and diagnostic maintenance on the process field instrumentation and control loops.
- To troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and test various types of process control instruments, relay logic and Safety Instrumented systems.
- To perform preventive and emergency maintenance on all equipment on site, as well as during machine scheduled or unscheduled shutdowns.
- To perform upgrade and retrofitting of new control instruments to the existing panels in the field and main control room.
- To input data into the Computerised Maintenance Management System CMMS (Maximo) maintenance system, such as work order activities, tasks, labour, materials and spares, failure reports and manpower statistics.
- Responsible for the creation and review of non-complex Instrument & Process operating procedures.
- To perform pigging operations at the FPS North Assets.
Each day requires focus, flexibility and taking ownership of activities and issues, with a positive attitude to overcome challenges.
What do I need?
Minimum Qualifications:
- Recognised Instrument apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme;
- HNC Instrumentation and Control (post 2009 apprenticeships);
- NVQ/SVQ Level 3 certification or equivalent in maintenance;
- Current BOSIET/FOET/MIST; OGUK Medical preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ within Petrochemical/oil and gas;
- CompEX (Hazardous areas);
- Minimum SBT01 & 02 or TSBT01 & 02;
- Ability to manage time effectively to achieve targets and objectives;
- Positive attitude, self-confident, independent and ability to work on own initiative.
Job Knowledge Skills:
- Familiarity with Maximo (preferable).
- Permit to Work systems.
