Industrious Recruitment are seeking an Engineer to work on assembly lines within a manufacturing environment for our client based in Leighton Buzzard. Working within a team of co‑workers who focus on pro‑active maintenance, the Engineer will reduce engineering downtime and improve overall productivity.
Key Accountabilities
- Working within teams and encouraging correct behaviours
- Maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of OHSE legislation and ensuring engineering compliance
- Completing the necessary risk assessments for each job
- Challenging co‑workers who are not working safely
- Promoting the use of the near‑miss system
- Always working in a safe manner and reporting unsafe conditions
Quality
- Implementing engineering initiatives that drive quality improvements
- Supporting quality improvement programmes
Waste
- Identifying and implementing engineering solutions that minimise waste production
- Working closely with operational teams to support waste improvement programmes
Engineering Responsibilities
- Taking a central role of TPM within the engineering team
- Taking a central role for continuous improvement activities within the engineering team
- Implementation of engineering work instructions and training documentation as and when required
- Continuous improvement of all related production equipment to drive OEE up and above specified targets and to reduce scrap to below specified targets
- Ensuring PPM/Breakdowns are completed in a timely manner with manager when timelines may not be met
- Investigating reoccurring faults and following up action; sending equipment back to manufacturers for analysis and repair when necessary
- Logging all major breakdowns per shift on the maintenance fault log / CMM\’s system
- Ensuring a high level of health and safety is adhered to at all times, leading by example
- Communicating with department managers or deputies and prioritising workloads during multiple breakdowns
People Management
- Liaising with operational management and workforce regarding engineering maintenance requirements
- Able to work from planned work sheets and providing adequate information regarding faults / repairs
- Providing full and effective feedback to maintenance management regarding work carried out, training needs and early warning of imminent maintenance problems
- Limited interaction with external contractors on specific maintenance tasks
- Maintaining a high level of housekeeping at all times, allocating sufficient time at the end of the shift to clean the working area and store tools professionally
Job Specific Technical Requirements
- Engineering knowledge of assembly lines (desirable but not essential)
- Understanding of continuous improvement / operational excellence tools and techniques
- Actively seeking best practice solutions onsite & externally
- Determination to deliver best in class
- Promoting operational excellence and continuous improvements within engineering across the site
Education and Certifications
- Time served industrial electrician
- Experience in an industrial engineering environment
- ONC minimum
- Relevant equipment specific training courses (PLC\’s, drives etc)
- Computer literate
- Some regulatory and legislative knowledge, including OHSE

- Experience of operational engineering within a manufacturing environment; preferably FMGC
