Impact Recruitment are working with a well-established plant and equipment dealership based near Northampton, who are seeking a skilled and motivated Workshop Engineer to join their expanding service team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a reputable organisation with a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and customer service. The position offers a varied and rewarding workload within a modern workshop environment, maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant and material handling machinery.
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on a variety of plant and construction machinery, including telehandlers, excavators, dumpers, and forklifts.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections to ensure equipment meets required standards before hire or sale.
- Perform LOLER and PUWER inspections and produce relevant certification.
- Diagnose faults using laptop-based systems and technical manuals.
- Liaise with the Service Department to provide accurate repair estimates and completion timescales.
- Offer technical advice and support to customers as required.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety procedures at all times.
- Supervise and support an apprentice engineer when necessary.
- Provide occasional off-site support to customers when required.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience maintaining and repairing plant, construction, or material handling equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- NVQ Level 2 or above in Plant, Agricultural, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Confident using laptop-based diagnostic tools and software.
- Full, clean UK driving licence and up-to-date CSCS card.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or Google applications.
