Our client, a busy alterations and tailoring studio, is seeking a Seamstress/Tailor to join their team based in Newtownabbey. They pride themselves on delivering high quality precise and reliable garment alterations for a loyal and growing customer base. Their work ranges from everyday clothing adjustments to detailed tailoring and specialist formal and bridal alterations.
Responsibilities
- Shortening and lengthening trousers, skirts, dresses and other garments.
- Tailoring adjustments to shirts, blouses, jackets and other fitted items.
- Zip replacements on a wide range of clothing.
- Alterations to formal wear including suits, occasion wear and bridesmaid dresses.
- Bridal wear adjustments including hems, bodice alterations and intricate detail work.
- Custom and creative alterations based on customer requests.
- Providing excellent customer service when dealing with fittings queries and measurements.
- Working with attention to detail at every stage of the alteration process.
Skills and Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience working as a seamstress or tailor in an alterations or garment production environment.
- Strong practical skills in sewing machines, overlockers and hand stitching.
- Proven ability to complete a wide range of alterations confidently.
- Ability to work with accuracy, efficiency and pride in your craft.
- Ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Previous experience with bridal wear alterations is preferred.
- Previous experience working with delicate fabrics including lace, silk, chiffon and formal gowns is preferred.
- Confidence in offering fitting advice and garment adjustments to customers is preferred.
Further Information
- Salary - Starting at £12.50 Depending on candidate experience.
- Work time - Wednesday: 9:30am - 5:30pm, Thursday: 9:30am - 7pm, Friday: 9:30am - 5:30pm, Saturday: 9:30am - 12:30pm.
