Our Client, Hughes Group is seeking an Intake Operative to join their expanding team, based in Dungannon.Hughes Group is a dynamic innovator in the mushroom sector of the agrifood industry, working with a network of growers to deliver top grade mushrooms, vegan and vegetarian product lines and superlative service to our customers and business partners across the UK and IrelandThe Intake Operative will play a crucial role in the food manufacturing process by managing the receipt, inspection, and handling of raw materials.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify the quality of incoming raw materials.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of deliveries, including matching goods with purchase orders and recording batch information.
  • Conduct quality checks and report any non-conformities to the quality assurance team.
  • Handle the safe storage and organization of raw materials to maintain their integrity and quality.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts to transport and store materials.
  • Maintain intake area cleanliness and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and communicate shortages or quality issues to relevant departments.
  • Coordinate with production and scheduling teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Follow FIFO (First-In-First-Out) stock management practices. Ensure that all Hygiene and Health & Safety rules and procedures are followed by you and other team members.
  • Adherence to PPE requirements, handwashing/sanitizing, chemical usage, fire procedure, machine safety
  • Adherence to all Company practices, policies and procedures as set out within the contract of employment and Company handbook and any additional polices set out
  • Liaise with your Supervisor / Manager if you have any concerns.
  • Any other duties as requested by any supervisor or manager which are deemed to be within the capability of the role.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail for quality inspections and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, including GMP and HACCP guidelines.
  • Forklift operation experience and certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
