Due to continued growth, our client, a leading provider of high-quality materials supporting major infrastructure projects across Northern Ireland, is seeking a Maintenance Fitter based in Coleraine, with travel to local sites as required. This mobile role offers variety across multiple locations and plays a key part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant and machinery through planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment, including conveyors, pumps, crushers, screens, and hydraulics.
- Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime and ensure optimal plant performance.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to company safety policies, risk assessments, and safe working procedures, ensuring all work is carried out in line with relevant health and safety regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying areas for process improvement, cost savings, and increased plant efficiency.
- Fabrication & Welding: Carry out basic fabrication and welding work as required.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, electricians, and external contractors to ensure seamless plant operations.
- Stock & Spare Parts Management: Assist in monitoring and managing spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available when needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance role within a quarry, sand plant, heavy industry, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and call-outs, as required.
- Full UK driving licence.
