IRS are urgently recruiting for a Mechanical to join our client’s maintenance team in the Oldbury area.
Skills & Experience Required:
- To carry out maintenance, repair, and servicing of pumps, motors, and associated mechanical and electrical systems handling liquids.
- The role ensures all equipment and machinery are operating efficiently, safely, and with minimal downtime.
- Perform routine maintenance on pumps, motors, and liquid handling systems.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on-site.
- Strip, inspect, refurbish, and reassemble pumps and rotating equipment.
- Maintain and service valves, pipework, seals, and associated systems.
- Conduct fault finding on electrical components, including control panels and motors.
- Ensure all machinery is maintained to operational and safety standards.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency repairs.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, and liquid transfer systems.
- Mechanical and basic electrical fault-finding skills.
- Experience with rotating equipment, bearings, seals, and alignments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems.
- Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications:
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background (multi-skilled preferred).
- Health & Safety training (e.g., IOSH or equivalent) is advantageous.
Working Conditions:
- Onsite role involving hands-on maintenance work.
- May require working in confined spaces or at height.
- Participation in on-call or shift work may be required.
