Are you passionate about bringing characters and worlds to life through expert modeling? Join ILM as a Modeler and contribute to the creation of groundbreaking CG creatures, hard‑surface models, and production assets. We are looking for a skilled artist with a deep understanding of anatomy, form, function and technical workflows to collaborate with our texturing and creature development teams alongside our production crew.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build 3D characters, digital doubles and creatures with a focus on anatomy, form, and realism, ensuring they are ready for texturing, rigging, and animation.
- Create hard‑surface models and support the construction of environmental assets when required.
- Utilise advanced modeling tools to craft the geometry and structure of models that meet the technical and artistic needs of production.
- Collaborate with a cross‑functional team, including Animators, Texture Artists, and other Modelers, to achieve the desired look and functionality of assets.
- Incorporate artistic skill and technical expertise to develop models that seamlessly integrate into the production pipeline.
- Participate in creative discussions and provide feedback during team reviews.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven professional experience in VFX modeling and sculpting with a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in modeling photorealistic assets.
- Strong spatial awareness and technical skills for the construction of complex hard‑surface assets.
- Proven experience in creating assets in a feature film or production environment.
- Proficiency in Maya and Zbrush.
- Ability to use node networks and procedural workflows is a plus.
- Strong organisational and time‑management abilities to navigate schedules and meet project demands.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and assimilate new information quickly.
- A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for realism.
- A solid understanding of film production and computer graphics workflows.
Preferred Skills
- Fundamental skills in subdivision surface modelling.
- A basic understanding of the full CG pipeline.
- Production experience with industry‑standard tools and software.
