Paint & Roto Artist (Mid Level) – ILM London

Job Summary

We are looking for artists who embody the creative talent and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM. As a Mid level Paint & Roto Artist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping stunning visuals by crafting precise and complex mattes. You\’ll collaborate closely with the compositing team to deliver optimal results with efficiency. Additionally, you\’ll contribute by providing essential \’shot finishing\’ support, ensuring the highest standards of excellence through to the final stages of production.

This is a fixed-term contract for up to six months. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.

What You\’ll Do

  • Modifies and removes isolated elements for digitally composited sequences, with both procedural and hand painting methods.
  • Create digital articulate mattes to aid both the Compositors and their own work.
  • Paints final comps before film-out to resolve last minute problems and prevent expensive re-renders (etc).
  • Consistently deliver excellent results with minimal supervision and good time management.

What We\’re Looking For

  • Proven mid-senior level production experience in Visual Effects, Animation or equivalent.
  • Proficient in using Nuke, Silhouette and Mocha and a good understanding of computer operating systems such as LINUX.
  • Understand the Compositing workflow and know the best and most efficient way to complete a task.
  • An ability to be detail-oriented, and have expert problem solving skills.
  • Actively participates in the creative process with a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive communication style.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of both 2D (procedural and hand painted) and 3D techniques methods, with a solid fundamental technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and perform effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.

This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasionally from home.
