The Role
You will own the estimating process from first review of specifications through to tender submission. Working with project managers, engineers, and suppliers, you will prepare detailed cost breakdowns, keep pricing current, and support contract negotiations with solid analysis. Several live estimates running at once is the norm, so the ability to prioritise and stay accurate under deadline pressure is key.
What You'll Be Doing
- Analyse project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to define scope and resource requirements
- Prepare detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather quotes and sharpen budgets
- Update estimates throughout the bid process as scope or information changes
- Support tender submissions, ensuring full compliance with client specifications and deadlines
- Track material and labour market pricing to keep estimates accurate and competitive
- Provide detailed cost analysis to support contract negotiations
- Maintain organised records of all estimates, quotations, and supporting documentation
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator, ideally in industrial, utilities, or energy environments
- Strong technical understanding of electrical installations and industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schedules
- Proficiency in Excel and estimating software
Useful, not essential:
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- ATEX or hazardous area knowledge
- Background in CHP or process plant environments
