Overview
The Graphic Design Manager reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and creates unique brand-centric visual and video for all of AU’s social media channels, marketing campaigns, events, and more, in order to engage and inspire a new generation of supporters and raise the visibility of AU and the issue to the national stage.
This is a full-time, exempt position. This position is a union role; it is included in the bargaining unit represented by AU Collective in connection with SEIU Local 500.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supports AU by creating print, digital and video assets to support AU’s brand via multiple campaign types, including national digital and print ad campaigns, website graphics, in-person event collateral, and organic social media.
- Support AU’s social media by developing creative campaigns for social media graphics and videos.
- Work with the Communications team to develop consistent, innovative design for organizational marketing and branding materials. These include, but are not limited to, logos, event collateral, brochures, annual reports, advertisements, promotional premiums.
- Steward AU’s brand guide through all creative projects.
- Produce high quality videos to showcase AU’s work to stakeholders, members, and the public.
- Manage photos from events, site visits, etc.; edit photos as needed; research stock photography options as needed.
- General updates of all templated and collateral materials for teams across the organization.
- Help maintain design processes, traffic systems and production timelines.
- Maintain library of all creative assets including: graphics, video, photos and other materials.
- Stay up-to-date on design trends and apply them as needed to AU’s creative work.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor degree in fine arts, Graphic Design, Visual Communications or related field from an accredited design institution, or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience in both graphic design and video editing.
- Experience working with an advocacy organization or political campaign is preferred.
- Interest in church-state separation, religious freedom, and knowledge of issues relating to these constitutional principles.
- Proficient using Adobe Creative Cloud programs, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects required.
- Fluency in Google Drive (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ClickUp project management software preferred but not required.
- General understanding of printing methods and print production.
- Proven skills in typography, layout, and branding; enthusiasm for new design trends and resources.
- Familiarity with digital platforms, including the most up-to-date digital trends and user and social media best practices.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS a plus.
- Ability to take complex policy/legal issues and convert them into unique, creative and compelling visual content.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to project manage and deliver polished products on tight timelines.
- Writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work across departments, fielding and triaging design projects from all.
Working Conditions
This is a remote position that primarily involves working from a home office. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and video conferencing tools. It requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, communicate effectively, and occasionally move about within the workspace.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $76,500 – $93,850 commensurate with experience. The successful candidate’s placement within that range will be consistent with AU’s compensation framework, which is based on years of related experience.
