TCS Consulting is supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Irlam, Greater Manchester, in the search for an experienced Supply Chain and Logistics Manager. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on procurement, inventory, supplier management and logistics operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting production, improving supplier performance and driving operational efficiency across a busy manufacturing environment.

As Supply Chain and Logistics Manager, you will take ownership of end-to-end supply chain activity, ensuring materials are available to meet production requirements while maintaining cost-effective and efficient logistics operations. You will work closely with production, operations, suppliers and logistics partners to improve performance, stock accuracy and delivery reliability.

  • Manage procurement of raw materials, consumables and key production requirements
  • Develop supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and monitor supplier performance
  • Manage inventory levels, stock accuracy and material availability
  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, including transport providers and logistics partners
  • Work closely with production and operations teams to support manufacturing requirements
  • Drive improvements in OTIF, lead times, cost control and overall supply chain performance

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics or materials management within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment. You should be commercially aware, organised and confident managing suppliers, stock, systems and cross-functional relationships.

  • Previous experience as a Supply Chain Manager, Logistics Manager, Procurement Manager or similar
  • Manufacturing, engineering or industrial sector experience
  • Strong supplier management, negotiation and contract management skills
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems
  • Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work closely with production, operations and commercial teams
  • CIPS, CILT, Lean or continuous improvement experience would be beneficial
  • Experience within heavy manufacturing, foundry, steel or automotive sectors would be advantageous
