Introduction:
Industrial Connected Talent is supporting a bespoke automation machinery builder in the search for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their automation engineering team. This role will involve designing bespoke automation equipment, robotic systems and turnkey machinery, taking projects from concept through to manufacture and installation.
Responsibilities:
- Produce mechanical designs, 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for bespoke automation projects.
- Work closely with controls, manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, safe and suitable for customer requirements.
- Produce 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs and design documentation.
- Support concept development for automation machinery and sales projects.
- Ensure designs consider safety, manufacturability, cost and CE / UKCA requirements.
- Contribute to design reviews and continuous improvement.
- Liaise with controls, manufacturing and assembly teams.
- Visit customer sites when required to support requirements gathering or validation.
Requirements:
- 2+ years’ mechanical design experience within automation, machinery or manufacturing.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software.
- Ability to produce accurate 2D engineering drawings and documentation.
- Understanding of tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar would be beneficial.
- Experience with drives, pneumatics, robotics, PDM systems or BOM management would be advantageous.
