This is a technically focused commercial role supporting the sales team with quotations, costings and solution development for automation, control and drive systems.
The successful candidate will act as the link between sales and engineering, translating customer requirements into clear, technically robust proposals.
Responsibilities for Internal Sales Engineer
As Applications Engineer / Internal Sales Engineer, you will review customer specifications, configure suitable technical solutions and prepare detailed quotations and proposals.
You will work closely with sales, engineering, suppliers and customers to ensure solutions are technically viable and commercially competitive.
- Prepare quotations, costings, technical specifications and proposals
- Configure automation and control solutions from customer requirements
- Estimate engineering resources, equipment and project requirements
- Produce system topologies and supporting technical documentation
- Act as the technical interface between sales and engineering teams
- Attend customer surveys, tender meetings and site visits where required
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams
Requirements for Applications Engineer / Internal Sales Engineer
The ideal candidate will have an electrical, electronic, mechatronic or automation engineering background with a good understanding of systems integration.
Previous experience in applications engineering, estimating, technical sales or controls engineering would be highly relevant.
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering or similar
- Understanding of industrial automation and systems integration
- Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA/HMI, variable speed drives or control systems
- Strong technical writing and proposal preparation skills
- Commercial awareness with the ability to understand project costs and scope
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and Visio
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas
Desirable Experience for Internal Sales Engineer
- AC, DC or Servo drives and motor sizing
