The Head of Film & Global Distribution leads inDrive's global film initiative as an end-to-end owner. The role sets strategic direction and drives execution across two pillars: 1) the nomadic Alternativa Film Festival, and 2) the newly launched Impact Scouting, Creation & Distribution program. Success means positioning Alternativa as a globally recognized player in impact cinema, building a credible international brand, and establishing a sustainable system for bringing transformational films from the Global South to a global scale, maximizing audience reach through multi-platform distribution.
You will be responsible for the strategic development and building a global system for scouting, creating, and distributing transformational films and series. The ambition is to reach hundreds of millions of people worldwide and, through that, help reduce major social problems. We are looking for someone with strong experience in the film industry and the ability to build systems, not just run projects.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and drive the full project lifecycle: from strategic design to hands‐on execution of a large‐scale impact initiative.
- Distribution Build‐Out: Build the new Scouting, Creation & Distribution direction from the ground up in partnership with the Head of Scouting, Creation & Distribution — design the operating model, build pipelines, and establish distribution partnerships. Develop and execute a distribution strategy at scale.
- Strategic Oversight of the Festival: Provide strategic and curatorial guidance for the next phase of the Alternativa Film Festival in close partnership with the Head of Festival and a strong team — strengthening Alternativa's global positioning and industry credibility, evolving the nomadic format, and shaping the long‐term geographic roadmap.
- Build strategic partnerships to strengthen the project's reach and credibility, including relationships with global and regional players such as platforms, distributors, sales agents, A‐list festivals, and foundations.
- Representation: Represent the initiative externally as its principal voice in the film industry.
- Design behavioral change programs that harness the power of film, media, art, storytelling, and digital platforms to shift public perception and cultural norms.
- Ensure alignment and collaboration across internal teams and with external stakeholders to deliver measurable, sustainable results.
- 7–10 years of senior leadership experience in the global film industry (distribution, sales, major festivals, or streaming platforms).
- Proven track record in international distribution and in bringing films or series to broad, diverse audiences beyond niche or festival circuits.
- Deep global network of senior industry contacts (sales agents, buyers, top‐tier festival programmers, streamers).
- Experience managing senior leaders (e.g., managing managers or heads of departments).
- Experience working with impact‐driven organizations is a plus; a strong business background is essential.
- Proven track record of launching new initiatives or functions from scratch (building teams, processes, and external positioning).
- Strategic Systems Thinking: Ability to design scalable models and long‐term strategies, not just execute projects.
- Global Market Intelligence: Deep understanding of international film ecosystems, audience behavior, and distribution trends.
- Strong creative vision, with a deep understanding of artistic processes and storytelling, and of the power of art and culture to influence audiences.
- Equity‐Driven Mindset: Deep commitment to justice, inclusion, and amplifying the voices of those most impacted; strong understanding of how content and media shape narratives, behaviors, and societal outcomes.
- Emotional Intelligence & Cultural Fluency: Skilled at navigating sensitive conversations and building trust across diverse communities.
- Partnership & Relationship Leadership: Ability to build trust and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across regions and sectors.
- Help us challenge injustice by creating fair choices for millions of people across 1,100+ cities in 48 countries.
- Develop your professional skills with access to mentoring, career consulting, and learning programs.
- Collaborate with teams around the world and gain international experience through our Global Talent Exchange Program.
- Engage in company‐wide challenges, awards, sports activities, employee‐led social impact and volunteering projects.
- Work alongside people who take initiative, speak openly, and challenge themselves to grow.
- Improve your language skills through co‐financed courses and internal speaking clubs.
Final benefits may vary depending on the location.
