As we continue to grow, we need an experienced engineer to join our onsite support team based at the NATS Prestwick Centre. This team covers the implementation and maintenance of the Infrastructure as a Service platform, and deployment of our ATM products into Indra and customer environments.
Amongst the responsibilities that the candidate is expected to assume are the following:
- Provide third level (expert) support to operational ATM systems, including the analysis of incidents and observations, in order to provide solutions to the customer.
- Consult expert colleagues in off-shore development teams to assist with the diagnosis and resolution of issues.
- Provide support for the deployment and maintenance of operational training and test environments.
- Participate in meetings with the customer to update them on the progress of investigations and observations.
- Provide integration support to onsite customer environments including acting as an engineering focal point during system development activities with operational end users.
- Deployment and integration of hardware and software systems within customer and internal air traffic management environments.
- Produce formal technical documentation such as operational procedures, high level designs, network designs, etc.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with customer stakeholders to ensure their needs are met, and identify new opportunities.

You will be a key member of the technical team based at the NATS Prestwick Centre, Scotland, working on some of the largest and most exciting ATM systems projects in the world. The role offers an exciting opportunity to support the introduction and maintenance of operational systems, which play a key role in UK critical national infrastructure.
Requirements
Essential
- Experience in integration test of software systems.
- Technical experience in a formal IT infrastructure environment.
- Good Linux knowledge - preferably RHEL.
- Knowledge and experience with virtualization - VMware, KVM.
- Log analysis.
- Scripting - shell scripting, python.
- Networking - TCP/IP, multicast, routing.
- Network troubleshooting with tools - Tcpdump, Wireshark.
- Software installation and troubleshooting.
- Automation and provisioning tools - Ansible or Puppet.
- Strong collaborative behaviours around good communication, appreciating and respecting cultural differences, flexibility to change, sharing knowledge, and goals.
- The ability to explain technical topics in a clear manner to different types of customer and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent customer-facing skills, including problem resolution and operating under pressure.
- Available for occasional business-related travel.
- Fluent English.
Desirable
- Container-based systems – Docker / Kubernetes
- Experience working in a highly distributed environment across teams/department boundaries.
- Knowledge of Spanish.
