The Project: As we enjoy continued growth in the UK & Ireland region, we are looking to develop our defence business. Working alongside our newly appointed Head of Defence, we are looking to hire 2 Business Development Executives to support across both Industry and Government contracts.

Role overview: The Business Development Executive plays a pivotal role in identifying, shaping, and securing opportunities with UK government defence bodies including MOD, DE&S, DSTL, and Strategic Command and/or building partnerships with defence primes, SMEs, and international collaborators to support teaming, subcontracting, and innovation at the Business Development Director level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with MOD programme teams and procurement officers
  • Monitor defence policy, funding cycles, and strategic initiatives
  • Identify new market opportunities, lead capture planning and bid strategy for government tenders
  • Represent the company at defence innovation and policy forums
  • Maintain compliance with defence procurement regulations
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships and teaming arrangements
  • Track industry trends and competitor activity
  • Represent the company at trade shows and industry events
  • Support export strategies and offset programmes
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to align offerings and opportunities to deliver in the UK

Person Specification:

  • Experience in defence industry BD or sales
  • Strong network across primes, SMEs and MOD/Government
  • Understanding of export controls and international defence markets
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • SC essential, DV clearance preferred
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking
  • Happy to work remotely, but with regular visits to our London office and UK travel

Security Clearance: You must be able to gain and maintain the relevant UK Government security clearance in line with the job role (SC).
