The Test Manager is responsible for setting up Indra’s test management practice for the TfL Proteus contract and leading all test management activities related to implementation of changes across TfL’s Revenue Collection System. The role ensures that tools, processes, organization, resources are adequate at all times to enable efficient execution of test activities and that all test artefacts are compliant with Indra internal standards and TfL requirements.
Key duties:
- Define, implement, and continuously improve the test management strategy, processes, and governance for the TfL Proteus programme, in line with Indra internal processes and capabilities and with TfL contractual requirements.
- Establish and manage the full testing lifecycle across system, integration, regression, and accreditation testing aligned with delivery milestones.
- Lead planning and coordination of all test activities, including estimation, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution oversight.
- Set up and maintain appropriate test environments, ensuring readiness, configuration control, and alignment with production baselines.
- Ensure all test artefacts (test plans, test cases, scripts, reports) comply with Indra internal standards and TfL contractual requirements.
- Manage test tools and repositories (e.g. test management, defect tracking, requirements traceability), ensuring data quality and traceability across lifecycle stages.
- Oversee defect management, including triage, prioritisation, tracking, and reporting, ensuring timely resolution with delivery teams.
- Coordinate with internal teams, third parties, and TfL stakeholders to support system, integration, interface testing, and accreditation activities.
- Provide governance, reporting, and metrics on test progress, quality, risks, and readiness for release decisions.
- Lead and develop the test team, including capability building, training, and continuous improvement of the testing function.
- Develop and monitor continuous improvement metrics (e.g. automation uptake, efficiency gains) to measure the effectiveness of test activities and drive ongoing improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Test Manager within large-scale, complex IT or transport systems programmes.
- Strong understanding of the full testing lifecycle, including system integration, non‑functional, and acceptance testing.
- Demonstrated experience establishing test management practices, governance frameworks, and tooling.
- Experience working with test and ALM tools such as DOORS, ETM, Rapsody or others.
- Solid understanding of test environment management, configuration control, and release processes.
- Experience managing testing in multi‑supplier and multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Strong knowledge of defect management, quality assurance, and reporting practices.
- Familiarity with compliance, accreditation, and security testing requirements within complex systems.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a high‑pressure, evolving delivery environment.
Desirable certifications:
- ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager (or equivalent), Agile / Scrum certifications, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent.
Desirable domain experience:
- Transport and mobility systems, particularly ticketing / Revenue Collection Systems (EMV contactless, Oyster or equivalent fare systems), large public‑sector or safety‑critical environments, complex systems integration and third‑party interface testing, Accreditation and compliance-driven programmes (e.g. PCI, security, regulatory).
