Role Overview: Our globally renowned aerospace client is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support the UK MoD's in-service and development activities for the UK P8 aircraft. Working within the Safety team and collaborating with the Systems Safety and Environmental Engineering Manager, this role involves conducting system safety assessments, ensuring compliance with Defence Standard 00-056, and contributing to the ongoing safety management of the programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop safety documentation in line with Def Stan 00-056, including: Hazard Identification & Analysis, Hazard Logs, Safety Cases, Reports & Arguments, Loss Model Development
- Collaborate with MOD and supplier teams to gather and provide safety case evidence
- Support and lead System Safety Working Groups and customer safety meetings
- Identify, monitor, and implement risk mitigation strategies
- Ensure adherence to safety legislation and regulations
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety processes
- Occasional UK travel may be required
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Formal system safety training and experience in the military air domain
- Strong knowledge of Def Stan 00-056 and experience in developing safety management systems, hazard logs, and safety cases
- Familiarity with safety tools such as CASSANDRA, BowTieXP, and Adelard Assurance
- Experience in UK military aircraft platforms and synthetic training systems is highly desirable
- Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with MOD, suppliers, and internal teams
- A postgraduate qualification in System Safety Engineering is desirable but not essential
