For our globally renowned aerospace client, they are seeking a (Mechanical) Stress Engineer β Aircraft Modifications to join the client's Commercial Modifications Engineering, supporting the certification and delivery of aircraft modification programmes. The role focuses on providing structural substantiation and certification support for a wide range of aircraft interior modifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory, airworthiness, customer, and organisational requirements.
Working within a collaborative global engineering environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality stress analysis, substantiation reports, and certification documentation in support of both current and future aircraft modification programmes.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver structural substantiation and certification activities for aircraft interior modification programmes.
- Develop and author certification-ready stress analysis and substantiation documentation supporting aircraft modifications.
- Perform detailed stress calculations, structural assessments, load path analysis, and engineering justifications to demonstrate compliance with airworthiness requirements.
- Support certification of cabin interior modifications including seating installations, monuments, galleys, lavatories, class dividers, premium cabin suites, Passenger Service Units (PSUs), Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), and cabin reconfiguration activities.
- Assess structural interfaces between aircraft interiors and primary or secondary aircraft structures where required.
- Produce hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models, stress reports, compliance documentation, and certification evidence packages.
- Support technical reviews, design reviews, certification meetings, and customer-facing engineering discussions.
- Ensure all engineering documentation remains accurate, traceable, auditable, and compliant with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple programmes and international locations.
- Promote engineering excellence, quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout project delivery.
- Degree qualified in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in aircraft stress analysis, structural engineering, or aircraft modification substantiation.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft structures, load paths, structural interfaces, and certification requirements.
- Experience supporting aircraft interior modification programmes and cabin reconfiguration projects.
- Proficiency in classical stress analysis techniques and engineering hand calculations.
- Experience producing certification-ready structural substantiation reports and technical documentation.
- Proficient in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and associated modelling tools.
- Working knowledge of EASA and FAA airworthiness regulations, including CS-25 and FAR 25 requirements.
- Experience within an EASA Part 21J Design Organisation environment is highly desirable.
- Strong technical report writing, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver to demanding programme schedules.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
