We are seeking an experienced Systems Configuration Manager to support a major transformation programme within a large, complex Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) environment. This role sits at the intersection of legacy systems, configuration management, and large-scale change, helping to baseline, rationalise, and transition long-established system configurations into a new, modernised systems estate.
The Role
- Analyse and understand complex, long-standing system configurations (old)
- Capture, document, and structure configuration data into a clear, manageable format
- Identify what configuration elements are essential, obsolete, or redundant
- Support the migration of configuration data into new systems as part of a wider transformation programme
- Work closely with operational teams, system suppliers, and contractors to assimilate configuration knowledge
- Engage confidently with senior stakeholders and supply chain partners
- Provide wider support to systems and contract management activities as required
This is not a hands-on technical delivery role; it requires strong analytical capability, systems understanding, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex stakeholder environment.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience analysing, capturing, and presenting complex information sets from multiple sources
- Experience creating processes, tools, or frameworks for managing systems or configuration data
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior and technical audiences
- Experience working in complex, multi-supplier environments
- Background in highways, transport, or Intelligent Transport Systems
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of Variable Message Signage (VMS) or traffic management systems
- Experience with systems configuration management, system transitions, or change programmes
- Understanding of IT architecture or data systems
This role would suit someone comfortable working at a high level, bringing clarity to complexity, and playing a key role in shaping the future of a nationally critical transport system.
