We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Network Engineer to implement and maintain our DCN network infrastructure across on premises data centers and cloud environments. The ideal candidate has CCNA level knowledge (certification preferred) and strong experience with routing/switching protocols, Fortinet security appliances, and next generation firewalls. You should be comfortable working with Linux systems, scripting in Python, and supporting datacenter infrastructure (racks, power and cabling). Excellent communication in English, exposure to network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG), familiarity with SQL and Azure networking, and availability for off hours work are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Network deployment: Configure and install network devices and services (routers, switches, firewalls) ensuring stable, scalable and secure deployments.
- Design and implement Fortinet and Cisco based security solutions (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, Cisco ASA); monitor and optimize their performance.
- Operate and troubleshoot routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP; support Layer 2 technologies including VLANs, STP and VXLAN.
- Develop network automation and remediation scripts in Python and maintain scripts for monitoring using SNMP.
Security & Monitoring
- Implement next generation firewalls, VPNs and intrusion prevention systems; conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans.
- Monitor network performance and capacity; analyse traffic using network monitoring tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds or PRTG; plan upgrades and patches.
- Participate in on call rotation and respond to afterhours incidents and deployment requests.
Documentation & Process
- Document network designs, configurations, policies and procedures; maintain asset inventories and cabling diagrams.
- Follow ITIL based change, incident and problem management processes; help develop runbooks and knowledge articles.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with system administrators, security engineers and application teams to support new services and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Provide Level 2 support to the NOCs and Security Teams.
Experience
- Proven hands‑on network engineering experience (CCNA level knowledge or higher preferred).
- Demonstrated experience with Fortinet products (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiExtender) (NSE4 certification desirable).
- Exposure to Azure networking or willingness to obtain the Azure Network Engineer Associate certification.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of routing & switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, VXLAN, STP), VPNs and network security.
- Proficiency in Linux administration and use of tools such as netstat, tcpdump or wireshark for diagnosing issues.
- Scripting ability in Python or similar languages; experience with SQL databases or query languages is desirable.
- Familiarity with data centre infrastructure management (DCIM), rack installation and basic AC/DC power systems.
- Experience with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark).
Process & Communication
- Knowledge of the ITIL framework; able to document updates and follow structured processes.
- Excellent English communication: proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to support after hours or emergency work and to remain on call.
