As a Field Engineer with Indigo, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-tier telecoms engineering infrastructure and technical services to our customers and end clients. This position requires a high level of technical competence and a commitment to maintaining Indigo’s Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Field Deployment & Maintenance: Provide first-line maintenance and field deployment support to a diverse customer base. This includes new build deployment activities, responding to maintenance calls within SLA, fault finding, and hardware replacement with TAC assistance.
  • Installation & Commissioning: Perform installation and commissioning duties in both project and maintenance environments.
  • Timely Response: Ensure timely intervention to meet SLA requirements.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support as needed.
  • Communication: Keep the Indigo GSC updated on intervention progress and provide feedback to Line Managers and Project Managers regarding on-site issues.
  • Documentation: Complete and submit all required paperwork and documentation within SLA.
  • Technical Tasks: Fault finding and resolution based on instructions from GSC (Indigo and/or customer). Installation of metalwork, basket work, and basic rack and stack services. Fibre and cable pulling, dressing, labelling, and securing. Copper cable termination, including Cat 'x' and E1 terminations. Ensure continuity, test, and measurement of cable and fibre runs. Electrical connectivity of 240v AC and up to -48v DC to distribution panels (no power up until certification).
  • Risk Management: Control and manage Risk Assessment and Method Statement documentation.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain Health & Safety and Engineering Quality standards at all times.
  • Skill Development: Develop fault diagnosis skills using OTDR and Ethernet/OSA testing procedures.
  • Vendor Products: Perform necessary installation activities on vendor-supplied products and/or supervise subcontracted activities.
  • Audits: Perform, manage, and record SVSA’s and HSE audits as required.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Ensure successful completion of all deployment activities to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Ownership: Take ownership of assigned faults through to resolution.

Telecoms Infrastructure: Qualified and experienced in building telecoms infrastructure services from plans, ensuring adherence to quality requirements.

Commissioning: Entry-level telecoms commissioner skilled in providing basic standalone product commissioning to achieve 'green light and connectivity.'

Hands-On Experience: Demonstrable hands-on experience in installation and commissioning (I&C) activities, using test equipment, network build, and power systems.

Fibre Splicing: Proficient in fibre splicing techniques.

Equipment Installation: Experienced in the installation and commissioning of equipment from Nokia, Juniper, Tellabs, Infinera, and Ciena, with in-depth knowledge of networking, optical transmission systems, and IP.

Customer Interface: Proven customer interface skills based on experience in similar environments.

Communication: Excellent report writing skills with a high standard of written and spoken English.

Pressure Management: Ability to work under pressure and positively influence others.

PC Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite, with essential experience in using Visio.

Workload Management: Ability to manage own workload and meet all SLAs as required.

Flexibility: Flexible approach to the role, with the ability to adapt and react to business needs.

Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence.
