We’re looking for a Junior Network Engineer to join the team in Magor. This is a junior level opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in networking and telecoms. You’ll support the day-to-day running of our network environment, working alongside experienced engineers to learn, develop and gradually take on more responsibility. This role would suit someone with a basic understanding of networking who is keen to learn on the job and grow into a fully-fledged Network Engineer over time.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the monitoring of network performance and raising issues where needed
  • Assisting with basic configuration of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) under supervision
  • Carrying out routine checks, updates and administrative tasks
  • Updating documentation, asset registers and network records
  • Helping to manage tickets, track incidents and follow up on actions
  • Supporting cabling, rack work and general data centre activities
  • Working with senior engineers on troubleshooting and fault resolution
  • Learning and following internal processes (change, incident, problem management)

About You:

  • Basic understanding of networking (e.g. TCP/IP, IP addressing, routing fundamentals)
  • Some exposure to Cisco or similar networking technologies (academic or practical)
  • Exposure to network security, cloud or infrastructure
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a team-first approach
  • Able to follow processes and take direction from senior colleagues
  • Studying towards or holding a CCNA (or similar) and any exposure to Linux, monitoring tools, or scripting would definitely boost your application
  • Experience with Fortinet products (FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiExtender) would be well received.

Process & communication:

  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework; able to document updates and follow structured processes
  • Excellent English communication: proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to support after hours or emergency work and to remain on call.
