Indigo are currently seeking an experienced Field Engineer in Bristol / London / North East areas to support critical infrastructure projects across high-profile data centre and telecommunications environments. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong electrical background and proven experience working within live data centres and exchange environments. You’ll play a key role in delivering infrastructure installations, power works, and network hardware deployments while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Rack installation and deployment activities
- Infrastructure installation including cable tray, conduit, and containment systems
- DC power installation up to 95mm CSA cable, including use of appropriate tooling
- Minor AC installation works including commando sockets
- Router and server installation within live environments
- Cat6 and fibre installation activities
- Basic router and switch commissioning
- Conducting power surveys to assess load and capacity requirements
- Supporting transmission testing activities where required (BERT, RFC, Y.1564 desirable)
- Working within operational data centre and telecoms environments while adhering to strict safety procedures
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong background working within data centres and critical environments
- Previous experience within VMO2 Data Centres and BT Exchanges highly desirable
- Good understanding of DC power systems and structured cabling
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project delivery team
- Strong awareness of health & safety and electrical compliance standards
Required Certifications
- Gold Card standard electrical qualifications
- Level 3 Test & Inspect qualification
- TEL001 DC Electrical Safety
- Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
- Manual Handling
- Ladder Safety
- Asbestos Awareness
- BPSS eligibility (to be processed upon successful acceptance)
Desirable Experience
- Transmission testing experience including BERT, RFC, and Y.1564
- Previous work within telecoms exchange environments
- Experience supporting critical network infrastructure deployments
