Job Description
Indigo is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic 1st Line Subsea Cable NOC Engineer to join our global network monitoring team based in Magor, South Wales. This role would be ideal for someone with a proactive logical mindset with strong written and verbal communication skills and a keen interest in developing technical expertise in subsea cable systems.
The successful applicant must be available to work an initial shift pattern of four consecutive 10-hour night shifts, followed by three days off and have the right to reside and work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage 1st line triage and response to alarms, phone calls, and email requests, prioritizing issues based on severity and SLA's.
- Accurately raise, update, and manage trouble tickets in a clear and professional manner using strong written English.
- Collaborate with 2nd Line Engineers, Field Engineers, customers, and third-party providers as required.
- Coordinate spare parts replacement, track inventory, and manage RMAs.
- Keep the Indigo management team informed of critical faults and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
- Proactively analyse data from Network Monitoring Systems and Tools and determine best course of action to mitigate potential faults.
- Support the Subsea NOC team with recommendations for process improvement, and documentation review as part of the indigo Continual Improvement Process
- Ensure all customer SLAs are met.
About You
Competency: Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrable experience of ticketing systems and workflow processes.
- Ideally a minimum of 3 years' experience in a NOC environment supporting enterprise or ISP networks
- Experience using Network Monitoring Systems and Network Monitoring tools
- Good knowledge of transmission equipment and technologies (SLTE, DWDM, 100GE, 100G OTU transmission etc)
- Knowledge and experience with optical transmission networks
- Any industry certification is desirable (DWDM Vendor training certification, CCNA, CCNP etc)
- Must have good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and customers
- Be able to deliver an excellent customer service
Technical Requirements:
Experience in one or more of the following technologies:
- Subsea or Terrestrial DWDM experience (ASN, NEC, SubCom, Ciena, Infinera etc)
- Understanding of an AIS systems
- Experience with Cisco and Fortinet equipment's
- Good understand of Office 365
