Overview
As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will provide senior clinical leadership within the AMU and oversee acute medical admissions.
You will play a key role in patient flow, early discharge, and multidisciplinary collaboration, while supervising junior staff.
The role supports service development, governance, and teaching to strengthen clinical quality.

Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical leadership within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
- Manage acute medical admissions and post-take ward rounds
- Oversee Same Day Emergency Care pathways
- Support patient flow, early discharge and multidisciplinary working
- Supervise junior doctors and Advanced Practitioners
- Contribute to teaching, clinical governance, audit and service development
- Develop a specialist interest or additional clinical skill as needed by service
- Key requirements
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- MBBS/MBCh B or equivalent
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- GMC Registered or CCT or equivalent accreditation in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine
- Extensive experience in acute medical receiving and general medicine
- Strong clinical leadership, communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
