Footwear Designer – Women’s FashionAbout INDIGO Founded over 30 years ago in Birmingham, INDIGO is an established and fast-moving force in women’s fashion footwear . We are the home of RAID, BEBO and Be Mine – brands with loyal followings across fashion, social media and the high street. Our products are worn by a diverse, fashion-conscious audience and are sold through leading retailers including ASOS, Zalando, Office and VERY , as well as specialist and international retailers. As a multi-brand, multi-channel business, we design and develop our footwear collections in-house, working closely with our suppliers to bring new ideas from concept through to final product. The Role We’re looking for a creative and commercially-minded Footwear Designer to join our team and play an important role in shaping our upcoming collections. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved throughout the design and development process – from researching the latest trends and creating initial concepts, through to reviewing samples and working with suppliers to bring designs to life. You will: Design and develop trend-led women’s footwear collections across a range of product categories. Take ownership of the design process for our in-house brands, from initial concept through to final sample. Create initial sketches, technical drawings and CADs using Adobe Illustrator. Research emerging fashion, footwear, colour, material and consumer trends to inspire new collections. Develop mood boards, colour palettes and seasonal concepts. Review samples and work collaboratively with suppliers to refine designs and ensure they meet the required aesthetic, quality and commercial expectations. Communicate design amendments clearly and monitor changes through the sampling process. Manage multiple styles and sampling deadlines, ensuring collections stay on track. Work closely with the wider team to develop products that are both fashion-forward and commercially successful . About You We’re looking for someone who is passionate about footwear and fashion , naturally curious about what’s next and able to turn trends and inspiration into commercially relevant product. You’ll ideally have: At least 1 year’s experience in footwear design . A strong understanding of women’s footwear and current fashion trends. A creative eye and the ability to develop fresh, original design concepts. Good knowledge of footwear construction, materials and manufacturing processes . Strong freehand sketching and CAD skills. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office. An understanding of the fashion consumer and what makes a product desirable and commercially successful. Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills. The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A collaborative approach and the confidence to communicate with suppliers and colleagues. Accessories design experience would be an advantage. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who lives and breathes fashion and footwear , keeps up with what’s happening across the high street, social media and wider fashion landscape, and is excited by the opportunity to turn ideas into products people want to wear.
