Senior Shift Manager to join our Operations team in Avonmouth and play a key leadership role in driving performance, safety, quality, and people development across our production operation.
Reporting directly to the
Factory Manager , you will oversee all operations within the Trim Department while providing leadership and support across site production teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Champion a strong safety-first culture across all production teams.
- Ensure compliance with all site health and safety policies and procedures.
- Lead accident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
- Act as a role model for safe working practices.
- Quality & Food Safety
- Take ownership of product quality and department compliance during your shift.
- Ensure quality systems and CCP checks are completed to the highest standards.
- Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with Technical and Site leadership teams to drive quality culture initiatives.
- Operational Performance & Customer Service
- Deliver production plans while maintaining service levels and operational targets.
- Communicate effectively regarding shortages and production issues.
- Collaborate with senior management, commercial, and finance teams to support customer satisfaction.
- Manage all aspects of employee performance, development, and engagement.
- Coach and develop Supervisors and high-potential employees.
- Lead performance reviews, absence management, disciplinary processes, and investigations.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
- Develop problem-solving capabilities across teams.
- Work collaboratively with managers across the site to achieve business objectives.
- Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Shift Manager or Manufacturing Manager within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in a high-risk/high-care food manufacturing setting.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Sound understanding of food safety, compliance, and health & safety legislation.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of operational cost drivers.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and web-based management systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- BRC and retail customer audit experience.
