Reporting to the Head of Rentals and Operations, this role plays a key part in ensuring our branch delivers safe, reliable, and well-presented vehicles for our guests. You’ll carry out minor repairs, basic maintenance tasks, vehicle cleaning and preparation, and provide general operational support across the branch. This position is ideal for someone practical, hands-on, and eager to develop their skills in vehicle maintenance while helping to keep daily operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the branch team, including cleaning, operations, and maintenance staff.
  • Follow guidance and training provided by senior team members.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional attitude.
  • Participate in training, toolbox talks, and development activities.
  • Support a culture of teamwork, communication, and safe working practices.
  • Carry out minor vehicle repairs, including replacing interchangeable panels, refitting trims and fittings, and basic component swaps (bulbs, wipers, clips, etc.).
  • Assist with routine maintenance checks such as fluids, tyres, and battery condition.
  • Support vehicle cleaning and preparation workflows when required.
  • Record vehicle damage accurately and report issues promptly to the Branch Manager.
  • Follow established processes to ensure consistent and reliable results.
  • Assist with branch and fleet audits as directed.
  • Clock in/out of jobs accurately and maintain clear job notes.
  • Contribute to delivering clean, safe, and well-presented vehicles to guests.
  • Assist with identifying and reporting vehicle damage during check-in and check-out.
  • Collect parts or materials from suppliers when required.
  • Handle parts responsibly and maintain stock security.
  • Support warranty processes by reporting potential warranty-related failures.
  • Follow correct procedures for booking out parts used during repairs.
  • Undertake minor repairs to reduce downtime and improve fleet availability.
  • Assist with maintaining vehicle presentation standards inside and out.
  • Support consistent maintenance practices in line with fleet strategies and customer service expectations.
  • Enter accurate information into Motek (or other systems) to maintain complete repair histories.
  • Help maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Ensure adherence to WHS policies and procedures.
  • Consult with workers and H&S representatives on WHS issues.
  • Identify, assess, and control hazards within the area of responsibility.
  • Escalate unresolved safety concerns to senior management.
  • Encourage early reporting of incidents and forward information to HR immediately.
  • Assist with initiating early return-to-work arrangements following workplace injuries.
  • Access WHS information and systematically share relevant updates with workers.
  • Provide PPE as required and ensure correct usage and storage.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WHS issues.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Full driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with willingness to learn.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Physically capable of performing manual tasks.
  • Positive approach to customer service.
  • Nice to have: Experience in a workshop, handyman, cleaning, or vehicle preparation environment.
  • Nice to have: Basic mechanical knowledge or hobbyist experience.
