We are looking for a People Director to help lead our Europe business through its next phase of growth.

We need someone who can work alongside our European leadership team to shape the business, build leadership capability, retain exceptional talent, and ensure our People strategy evolves ahead of the business.

The role will lead the People team across the UK and Portugal and play an important role in connecting Europe to Indicium AI’s global business strategy, People priorities and ways of working.

You will represent the needs of the Europe business globally while helping translate our global objectives into regional priorities.

Success in this role requires someone who is highly visible in the business, builds credibility and relationships quickly, brings the the confidence and judgment to influence senior leaders, and can introduce the right level of structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

You will lead and develop our existing Europe People team and work closely with our Global People and Talent team.

This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days per week in the office, plus regular travel to Lisbon.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the People strategy across the UK and Portugal, aligned with Europe and global business objectives.
  • Help lead Europe through its next stage of scale, anticipating the organisational, leadership and talent capabilities needed as the business grows.
  • Connect Europe to the global business, translating global priorities into regional People priorities while representing Europe’s needs in global decisions.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the business, becoming a credible adviser to leaders on both business and People decisions.
  • Strengthen leadership and management capability, coaching leaders through performance, organisational challenges, change and difficult people decisions.
  • Build and retain exceptional talent, particularly across our technical and consulting teams, through career development, performance, compensation, succession and workforce planning.
  • Support the continued growth of Portugal, ensuring we have the right organisation, leadership, talent practices and culture as the Lisbon team scales.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Europe People team, creating opportunities for the team to grow while maintaining ownership and autonomy.
  • Build scalable People practices without over-engineering them, continuously improving core People processes, systems, reporting and ways of working as the organisation grows.
  • Lead organisational change and manage People risk, including employee relations and other transformations, balancing employee experience with commercial realities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive People/HR experience, with leadership responsibility and autonomy in a high-growth professional services organisation.
  • Ability to work from our office at 100 Liverpool Street in London, UK and travel to Lisbon, Portugal regularly.
  • Demonstrated experience helping an organisation navigate a meaningful stage of growth, including evolving its organisational structure, leadership capability and People model as the business scales.
  • Strong experience partnering directly with senior executives and the credibility and judgment to influence business and organizational decisions.
  • Strong understanding of the dynamics of a professional services organisation, including the relationship between talent, utilisation, capability, client delivery and commercial performance.
  • Experience developing and retaining technical or specialist talent, including career frameworks, performance management, succession planning and compensation.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing People professionals.
  • Strong experience across organisational design, workforce planning, organisational change and employee relations.
  • Experience supporting teams across multiple countries and navigating the balance between global consistency and local requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law. Experience supporting employees and leaders in Portugal and/or internationally is a plus.
  • Comfortable shaping strategy with senior leaders and rolling up your sleeves when the business needs it.
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where priorities move quickly, not every answer is known upfront, and progress often comes through testing, learning and adapting.
