An exciting opportunity for a Mid-Market P&C Underwriter to join a growing commercial underwriting team in Essex. You’ll manage a mid-market portfolio, making informed underwriting decisions, building strong broker relationships, and driving profitable growth. Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite mid-market P&C risks in line with long-term portfolio strategy and sustainability goals
- Drive profitable growth across new business and key market segments
- Build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of prospects
- Develop and strengthen broker relationships to identify opportunities and market trends
- Issue accurate underwriting documentation in line with internal processes
- Monitor account performance and contribute to action planning
- Balance office-based work, broker engagement, and market activity
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience within the UK General Insurance market is essential, with core underwriting experience strongly preferred.
- Strong trading capability with proven broker relationship management
- Confident and pragmatic decision-maker with good numerical reasoning skills
- Technical understanding of commercial Property & Casualty risks
- Analytical mindset with experience in account monitoring and portfolio management
- Sound understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements within insurance
- Cert CII qualification desirable, but not essential
- Curious, collaborative, and commercially minded approach
