Job Summary: The Field Services Manager – Fire Damper Remedials is responsible for overseeing the delivery of remedial works related to fire dampers in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role includes managing field engineers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations (e.g., BS 9999, HTM 03-01), coordinating with clients, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. This is a field-based role with regular site visits and occasional overnight travel. Office and administrative tasks will be required to manage scheduling and reporting. Flexibility with working hours is expected to meet client or project needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage fire damper remedial projects from initiation through to completion.
- Coordinate and schedule remedial jobs based on survey findings and compliance reports.
- Ensure all works comply with fire safety standards, building codes, and company procedures.
- Supervise, support, and guide field teams to ensure safety, technical accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Conduct site visits to ensure quality control, compliance, and client satisfaction.
- Interpret fire damper inspection reports to plan and scope remedial actions.
- Provide on-site technical assistance and guidance to engineers as required.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and smooth project delivery.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure testing, inspection, and replacement works meet required standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including work reports, RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), and certifications.
- Monitor performance metrics and ensure KPIs, SLAs, and health & safety standards are met.
- Identify training needs within the team and support staff development.
- Ensure smooth coordination between field operations and internal departments to maintain project momentum.
- Support recruitment, training, and development of field staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Ventilation Installation (or equivalent qualification).
- Proven experience in fire damper installation, inspection, or remedial works.
- Strong understanding of fire safety regulations and relevant standards (e.g., BS 9999, BS EN 1366-2, RRFSO 2005).
- Competency with RAMS preparation, permit-to-work systems, and health & safety protocols.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence (or applicable for your country/region).
- Valid CSCS card (preferred).
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FDIS, FIA, or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Familiarity with CAFM systems or digital reporting tools.
- Project management qualifications (e.g., SMSTS, PRINCE2) are beneficial.
