We are looking for a highly talented researcher to work on Daytime on 5 – which includes the Jeremy Vine, Storm & Alexis, Matt Allwright and Vanessa programmes. The successful candidate must have a strong understanding of news and current affairs, first class journalism and production skills, and the ability to work under pressure.

We are offering a 12-month contract and the full-time role would involve a 5-day working week with a variable shift pattern which could include working the occasional Sunday. Weekday shifts are office based.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coming up with ideas for debates and phone-ins
  • Researching stories and writing briefs for presenters and guests
  • Liaising with panellists to get their views on topics
  • Chasing and booking extra guests according to the stories we are debating
  • Writing graphics to go on air including quiz questions
  • Selecting and publishing still images for broadcast
  • Screening calls from the public and selecting callers to go on air
  • Supporting the programme producer in all aspects of building a rundown
  • Dealing professionally with members of the public and guests
  • Working in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety

  • Good interpersonal skills – both for working in the team and when taking calls from members of the public
  • Enthusiastic and passionate
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Previous experience in daily/topical shows is desirable
