This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join Haberdashers' Castle House School from Easter 2026. The school has seen unprecedented growth recently and we now seek an outstanding teacher to join our team. Haberdashers' Castle House School is a small independent prep school located in Newport, Shropshire. From September we are about to enter another phase of expansion and need to increase our teaching staff to match. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to work in Key Stage two. This person will deliver an exciting curriculum and be involved in the wider activities offered by the school. Children are taught by their Class Teacher for the majority of their lessons yet benefit from being taught by specialists in subjects such as music and PE. Haberdashers’ Castle House School is a non-selective Prep School. Whilst the school does have a focus on academic entry to the 11+ grammar schools in the area, we are highly inclusive and welcome children of all abilities, talents and needs.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver an exciting KS2 curriculum and be involved in the wider activities offered by the school. The role includes teaching the majority of lessons as part of the Class Teacher, with opportunities to work with specialists in certain subjects.

Person Specification / Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a good honours degree from a respected university. They will have an excellent teaching record, an inclusive approach and a commitment to fostering a love of learning for all children. Other valuable qualities include enthusiasm, understanding, strong organisational ability, the capacity to work hard and the ability to stay calm and good-humoured under pressure. The appointee will need to demonstrate a commitment to technology and its use across the curriculum. The successful candidate will also have the ability to command respect amongst all segments of the wider community and bring with them real energy, excitement and passion to the classroom.

Terms of Appointment

The post is available from April 2026 on a full-time, temporary basis. A competitive salary reflecting the level of experience to date. Automatic enrolment into the Aviva Pension Scheme. Fee remission. A free staff lunch is provided during term time.
