Padworth College is seeking to appoint a full-time Head of Business and Economics. The Head of Business and Economics is a new and key position at Padworth, responsible for driving excellence in teaching, learning, and curriculum development within the department. This is an exciting time for Padworth as we look to develop our reputation for excellence in Business and Economics. We already have many links with local businesses including Henly Business School, and we want to grow those links so that students leave Padworth ready to thrive at university and beyond.
Padworth College
Padworth College is an international boarding school which prepares students aged from 14 to 19 from a wide range of nationalities for entry into the British universities. We are expanding our provision to be able to offer a bespoke course which supports students who need to improve their English before moving on to take GCSEs, A Levels or IFY courses.
Teachers act as a tutor, working with students to set academic targets and support learners in meeting them. Teachers also take on a significant responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of their students.
Experience And Qualifications
The ideal candidate should hold a degree in Business, Economics, or a related subject. They should hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering outstanding teaching and learning outcomes. They must have a deep knowledge of Business and Economics, with the ability to inspire students and staff alike.
Reporting to: Deputy Head (Academic) and Principal
Salary: This will be based on the Padworth College scale and will depend on qualifications and experience. Teachers will also be part of the College’s pension scheme.
Hours of work: The teaching load is up to 21 hours per week, the College day has 8×45 minute lessons per day. Timetabled teaching is from Monday to Friday. The College day is 08:30-16:45 Monday to Friday. In addition, teachers are expected to do one evening per fortnight until 20:15 supporting prep and 2 Sundays per term.
Contract: This is a Full-time post from September 2025.
Teachers are required to carry out general duties and responsibilities in addition to their teaching and pastoral responsibilities.
