We are looking to strengthen our team with a motivated, detail-focused and customer-facing Engineer Surveyor to carry out LOLER examinations.
Job Description
Working Monday to Friday with flexible working hours, you will visit client sites to carry out statutory LOLER examinations of passenger lifts, assessing the condition, safety, and continued use of lifting equipment in line with Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards.
We are happy to consider military service leavers without direct passenger lift experience, provided they demonstrate the right attitude, strong engineering fundamentals, and a genuine commitment to learning.
Skills Required
- Ideally holding an HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Marine, or Automotive Engineering. Candidates with an NVQ Level 3 and relevant engineering experience will also be considered.
- Experience working with mechanical systems in an inspection, maintenance, service, or repair environment. Passenger lift experience is beneficial but not essential.
- A clear understanding of LOLER and PUWER regulations, or the ability and motivation to develop this knowledge quickly.
- Highly self‐motivated and able to work independently, planning and managing your own workload without close supervision.
- Impeccable attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate, clear, and well‐structured examination reports.
- Strong communication skills, with a proactive approach to keeping both clients and internal team members well informed.
- Comfortable in a customer‐facing role, representing the business professionally on client sites.
- Able to make sound engineering judgements regarding equipment condition and continued safe use.
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
- Professionally registered with the Engineering Council. Engineering Technician (EngTech) status as a minimum, with support provided to work towards Incorporated Engineer (IEng) accreditation.
Location & Travel Requirements
- Regular travel across Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset. Occasional travel to Greater London, Kent, the M4 Corridor, Home Counties and Devon.
- Candidates should ideally live in Dorset / Hampshire.
- Willing to stay away overnight occasionally during the working week.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
Structured training programme with a minimum of 3-6 months supported development. High level of autonomy, with the ability to organise and manage your own working week.
