Our global Automotive T1 client has an urgent short term vacancy for a contract Software Test Engineer with lighting experience for a project to be split between Cheshire and Leamington Spa.

It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have previous lighting experience or be from a very similar background. The role will include but may not be limited to:

  • System & Software Integration
    • Integrate embedded software functions into lighting ECUs (e.g., BCM, domain/zonal controllers)
    • Ensure end-to-end functionality across hardware, software, and vehicle systems
    • Define and maintain interface specifications (ICD) and signal mappings
  • Validation & Testing
    • Plan and execute integration and system tests (MIL / SIL / HIL / vehicle-level)
    • Perform debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution across SW/HW/system levels
    • Ensure full requirements traceability and validation coverage (DVP&R)
  • Exterior Lighting Function Integration
    • Integrate and validate advanced lighting features such as:
    • Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) / Matrix high beam
    • Dynamic rear lighting (animations, indicators)
    • DRL, tail, stop, and comfort functions
    • Ensure compliance with global regulations (ECE, FMVSS)
  • Vehicle Integration
    • Support vehicle-level integration, prototype builds, and validation drives
    • Ensure correct interaction with vehicle networks (CAN/LIN/Ethernet) and other ECUs
    • Collaborate with system, hardware, optics, and manufacturing teams
  • Requirements & System Engineering
    • Analyze OEM requirements and translate into software and system specifications
    • Manage requirements using tools like DOORS / Polarion
    • Contribute to DFMEA, functional safety, and validation concepts
