Our client is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. Sitting at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and design, they aim to provide the next generation of mobility-as-a-service in urban environments. Therefore, they are looking for top talent that shares their passion and wants to be part of a fast-moving and highly execution-oriented team.
The Role
As the successful Homologation Engineer applicant, you will gain exposure to every part of the vehicle and how it works. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that is homologating the first, ground-up autonomous vehicle design. Achieving this goal will require continuous problem-solving and creativity to navigate the regulations at both the EU and member state levels.
Please note that the scope for the role at this point is largely on the requirement and documentation side and there will only be limited scope for testing in the near future.
The Project:
- Identify European regulations applicable to a purpose-built autonomous vehicle, including EU, UNECE and member state statutes and regulations for the small-series and the upcoming unlimited-series.
- Populate requirements in a formal requirements management tool.
- Support engineering teams in understanding and interpreting applicable requirements, also defining appropriate test procedures.
- Work with European Technical Service(s) to seek interpretations and agree test procedures.
- Draft compliance documentation including information document templates, and frameworks for complex electronic control system assessments.
- Advise Homologation team on status of evolving regulations.
- Create timelines for both small-series and unlimited-series EU homologation.
Experience required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, or in a related and relevant field of study.
- 5+ years of experience in vehicle homologation documentation and testing.
- Strong understanding of European regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle system components and functions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop effective solutions efficiently.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Potential for occasional fully expensed travel to West Coast USA / Europe.
Overview:
- Working style - hybrid, attending our clients site (near the M40) as per project demands, whilst also working from home.
- Rate - $95ph (circa £67.00ph at time of issue) Ltd Co basis paid in GBP, within IR35.
- Duration - 12mths contract, ongoing.
- Travel - fully expensed.
