Introducing D

We are seeking a patient, caring and alert Support Worker to support D, born in 2009, who lives with his parents and has wider family close by who are very important to him. He enjoys swimming and going for car journeys, and he has a very good road knowledge. D acquired a brain injury shortly after birth and, as a result, has Cerebral Palsy affecting all four limbs. He has a diagnosis of Autism and Asthma and has regular medication for this. He is supported by a Case Manager, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, CAHMS and other Support Workers. He has an electric wheelchair for when he is out in the community and a rollator for short walks. D has a diagnosis of OCD which affects his daily life in having to do simple tasks perfectly; this can be timely and cause him distress. When D becomes distressed he can become both verbally and physically aggressive to others.

Your Role

Your role as a Support Worker will be to support D with daily living, home education and increasing his independence. He requires assistance with dressing but can feed himself independently. You will be working alongside his support worker who has been with the family for five years, as well as two other bank support workers who know and understand D’s needs and behaviour. Patience and reassurance while helping to manage his OCD.
