We are looking for Caseworkers who share our commitment to dignity, respect and empowerment. This is a varied and rewarding role where your work will make a direct and meaningful difference to disabled people’s lives.

As a Caseworker, you will play a vital role in managing grants and awards. You will manage a complex caseload with accuracy and care, directly supporting Recipients to use their funds effectively and safely, ensuring compliance with policy and build strong, empathetic relationships with Recipients, families, and stakeholders.

You will be responsible for the administration of ILF Scotland funding, including the processing, evaluation and management of Independent Living Fund awards and grants through the Transition Fund. You will have delegated authority to make award decisions within set guidelines, using sound professional judgement and a strong understanding of policy. You will have analytical thinking, compassion and resilience. You will work closely with Recipients, their families, carers and a wide range of partners.

This is a role where your decisions directly impact people’s independence and quality of life. You’ll work autonomously within clear guidelines, exercising judgment and integrity in every interaction. You will also contribute to continuous improvement, helping us develop and refine processes and policies to enhance the experience of Recipients and stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrable recent experience of managing funds and/or complex caseloads in social care, public, third or Not for Profit sectors or a similar setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret social care and welfare information.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex decisions clearly, sensitively and with empathy and demonstrable experience of building positive, respectful relationships.
  • The ability to manage sensitive and challenging conversations with empathy.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility, resilience and a commitment to working in line with ILF Scotland’s values of dignity, respect and empowerment.
  • A commitment to high-quality, person-centred customer service and building positive, respectful relationships with recipients and stakeholders.

Grade / Salary: B1: £33,754 to £36,612 (rising to £34,936 to £37,894 with effect from 1 April 2026)

Location: This role is offered on a hybrid working arrangement with an office based in Livingston (at least one day per week to be worked in Livingston)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (FTE), happy to talk flexible working
