PA Wanted for Home Support DP5851a
Company: Independent Lives
Salary: from Β£13 an hour
Hours: Part-time
Location: Worthing
Working pattern: On-site
Job type: Permanent
Posting date: 7 Oct 2026
Closing date: 6 Nov 2026
We are looking for a warm, friendly and reliable PA to support a sociable 13-year-old boy within the family home, providing enjoyable and meaningful support while giving Mum some valuable respite.
He is verbal and, once he gets to know someone, is sociable and enjoys building positive relationships. He can experience some social anxiety, so we are looking for someone who is patient, encouraging and able to help him feel comfortable and confident.
He has a fantastic range of interests, including gaming, making and editing videos, arts & crafts, cooking and baking. We are looking for someone who is happy to engage with his interests, have fun with him and encourage his confidence and independence.
The role will primarily involve supporting him at home on an as-&and-&when-needed basis. This could include after school during the week, evenings and weekends, depending on the family's needs. The support may be particularly helpful when Mum has appointments or meetings, or simply needs some time for herself and a break.
You will encourage and prompt him to develop his independence and everyday life skills rather than doing things for him. This may include helping him learn how to look after his own space, develop housekeeping and domestic skills, and become more confident with age-appropriate tasks around the home.
Cooking and baking can also form part of the role on a relaxed and enjoyable basis, as these are activities he particularly enjoys.
The ideal candidate will be patient, kind, reliable and engaging, with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people. Experience of supporting children or young people with SEN would be beneficial, but most importantly, we are looking for someone who can build a positive relationship with him, encourage his independence and make the time he spends with them enjoyable.
This role may particularly suit someone who does not drive or does not have access to a car, as the support will primarily take place within the family home.
He has a nut allergy and uses an EpiPen. Full training and guidance on managing his allergy and using his EpiPen will be provided, so you will feel confident in keeping him safe.
This is a flexible, as-&and-&when-needed role, with hours agreed in advance according to the family's requirements and the PA's availability.
If you are a warm, patient and responsible person who would enjoy supporting a young person in a relaxed home environment while providing valuable respite to Mum, this could be a fantastic opportunity for you.
